I don’t mean to look chafed. Most teachers are happy little hamsters in August. On Zoom meetings, they walk in place checking their Fitbit steps, pick up classroom freebies, and forget where they left their mindfulness coffee thermoses. They put up bulletin boards with cream and brown fall leaves that say, “Here is a face I love to see!” and “You are enough!”
I know. We all know those teachers. Sure, they are not all chippy, chirpy and perky. They have their own problems. But they fill the national teacher magazines with bubbles of joy.
They aren’t Mr. Fred or Tom O’Shea.
