This was inspired by a couple of style banging boys I used to teach. In the book, Ke’Trail gets beat up by a group of boys in a bathroom, and he tells Mr O’Shea to ignore him, to let it go. I wanted it known that in spite of Ke’Trail’s flash, no one is pure sunshine. Out beyond the brilliant corners, some threats lurk.
Sorry about the delay in posts. Our dear friend and my mentor, Jane Resh Thomas, 86, died on June 12, and it knocked all the light out of me. She had been frailer than ever for a month. Her passing followed about 10 deaths in a year near us, such that Death is now less ghastly, but a bleak and tiresome houseguest we would like to shove off, and Jane would agree: give us a rest. Please.
